No Child Left Behind

Posted May 5, 2004
No Child Left Behind legislation brought about major changes in education when it was enacted in January 2002. One of the most significant changes was in the requirement for all teachers to meet the definition for highly qualified status by May 2006.

The Human Resources Department is committed to helping each teacher in East Baton Rouge Parish meet this requirement. All teachers of core subject areas MUST meet the definition for highly qualified status by May 2006.

It is extremely important that you understand the requirements of this legislation and that you take the appropriate steps, if necessary, (additional coursework, Praxis, CLUs, etc…) to ensure that you will meet the definition for highly qualified status by May 2006.

Read the following important documents carefully and consider how it applies to your situation.
